Stormwater Engineer – NSW Residential Subdivisions (Remote)

OutsourcedIn is partnering with an Australian consultancy to hire an experienced Stormwater Engineer with strong exposure to NSW residential subdivision projects.
This role focuses on delivering compliant, efficient, and cost-effective stormwater designs aligned with NSW council requirements and Australian standards.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in NSW subdivisions, strong knowledge of compliance and approvals, and is confident in preparing detailed stormwater designs and reports.
Proven NSW residential subdivision experience is ESSENTIAL.
About the Role
You will be responsible for designing stormwater systems, preparing management plans and reports, and supporting DA/CC submissions for residential subdivision projects.
This is a technical role requiring strong knowledge of NSW compliance, hydraulic modelling, and coordination with engineers, surveyors, and councils.
Key Responsibilities
Stormwater Design & Engineering
Design and deliver stormwater solutions for residential subdivisions

Prepare stormwater management plans, drainage layouts, and engineering reports

Perform hydrological and hydraulic modelling

Review and optimise designs for cost-efficiency and constructability

Compliance & Approvals
Ensure designs comply with:
NSW local council requirements

Australian Standards

WSUD (Water Sensitive Urban Design) principles

Support DA (Development Application) and CC (Construction Certificate) submissions

Coordination & Project Support
Liaise with civil engineers, surveyors, councils, and approval authorities

Provide technical support across multiple subdivision projects

Ensure timely delivery of compliant and accurate documentation

Mandatory Requirements
Proven experience in Australian residential subdivision projects (ESSENTIAL)

Strong understanding of stormwater compliance, regulations, and approvals in Australia

Experience with:
DRAINS / MUSIC / HEC-RAS (or similar modelling tools)

AutoCAD / Civil 3D

Ability to prepare engineering reports and supporting documentation

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Highly Regarded
Experience working with Sydney / NSW councils

Knowledge of On-Site Detention (OSD) systems

Experience with flood studies and overland flow path design

Exposure to subdivision earthworks and road design coordination

KPIs
Approval success rate (DA/CC)

Turnaround time on designs

Compliance accuracy (minimal revisions required)

Quality of documentation and reporting
