About the role

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Environment and Sustainability Business Partner, working within our wider corporate ESG Team.

The role is remote ideally within travel as required – this tends to be Manchester, Midlands and London

HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours – we all also open to part-time opportunities

We’re looking for an experienced Environment & Sustainability (E&S) Business Partner to play a pivotal role in strengthening corporate governance, assurance and best practice across our organisation.

This role is critical to ensuring the business meets its environmental compliance obligations, external commitments and sustainability ambitions, while embedding robust governance, accountability and continual improvement across operations. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will help translate policy and strategy into effective, practical delivery.

What you will do:

Working with our operational SME leads, oversea the deployment and effectiveness of our Environmental Management System, accredited to ISO 14001
Monitor corporate environmental performance, providing assurance, insight and clear reporting – required for both internal management and external disclosures
Maintain and update E&S policies to reflect regulatory change, client outcomes and best practice.
Help shape our wider ESG strategy and goals – with a focus on ambition and delivery
Lead on ‘Planet+’ - our environment and sustainability cultural and awareness programme at Amey
Provide an escalation point for complex environmental and compliance issues.
Identify and manage environmental risks and opportunities, across nature, waste and resource use.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation through internal/external insights and development of digital enhancements
Partner with Enabling Function leads and operational teams to embed accountable, compliant and outcome-focused environmental and sustainability practice.
Champion strong environmental behaviours through training, engagement and capability- building activities.
Support work winning activity by providing content and evidence that demonstrates our delivery and capability
Represent the business externally, promoting best practice and strengthening professional credibility.

What you will bring:

Degree-level qualification in Environment, Sustainability, Engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) or equivalent professional status.
Full membership of ISEP or equivalent body.
ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification
Strong experience delivering environmental governance, engagement and assurance in complex operational environments.
Proven ability to influence senior leaders and work confidently across multidisciplinary teams.
Experience across the built environment and infrastructure management sector
Desirable – experience with TCFD and TFND

The role will work close with our Carbon and Climate Change Business Partner, also working within the Group ESG team.
