About the role
We are seeking a talented Senior Application Developer to join our UK Customer Solutions team. In this role you will focus on delivering applications for our customers, developing industry-leading applications running on D-Wave’s advanced quantum systems.
This position will give you the opportunity to learn about D-Wave’s application environment and work with internal teams and customers to build applications for market launch. This is an exciting opportunity to work with industry-leading customers and cutting-edge quantum computing technology.
What you'll do
Develop algorithms to solve complex problems while building applications on the D-Wave quantum computer and internal tools
Implement and optimize the performance of quantum applications, primarily in Python
Build out custom applications to solve complex problems for customers or for market release
Ensure successful delivery of projects to achieve positive business value for customers
Collaborate with business stakeholders and other team members to understand application requirements and design customized solutions
Become an expert on a variety of our professional services offerings such as our cloud service (LEAP) and open-sourced software tools (Ocean)
Help to solve real-world, challenging problems that have a direct impact on our customers business success
About You
5+ years professional experience with Python. Knowledge of NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and Networkx is a plus but not required 
Masters, PhD, or equivalent in Operations Research, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related technical field preferred
Experience working directly with customers to identify requirements and consult on solutions to complex business problems
Strong knowledge of probability, statistics and/or math
Experience with a version control software such as Git
Experience implementing complex algorithms
Experience using leading optimization tools (e.g., CPLEX or Gurobi) to solve optimization problems
Experience building open-source applications to solve complex problems for customers or for market release
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and demonstrated creativity in approaching new problems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and passionate about writing state-of-the-art code
