About the role

About SafeLease

At SafeLease, we're rethinking how P&C insurance is sold in an age of technological change. We believe the industry's biggest inefficiencies aren't technical problems — they're structural ones. And we're building the team to tackle them.
SafeLease is a profitable insurance business that designs, underwrites, and distributes specialty coverage for commercial property owners and their tenants. Most insurance companies either distribute products or bear the risk — we do both. We back our policies with our own capital, which means we control the full stack: product design, tech, and the speed at which we move. That end-to-end ownership lets us offer customers real flexibility, saving time and money for more than 4,000 properties insured for billions in value nationwide.
We're a team of 70, growing over 100% annually, and we've done it without sacrificing profitability or culture. Here, you'll get high discretion and a wide aperture of problems to solve. We embrace the newest technologies, move fast together, and operate with the intensity of a small company where every person's work is visible. If you're looking for a place to sharpen your craft alongside people who take their work seriously, you'll fit right in.
About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Product Management, Claims to own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for SafeLease's claims experience. You will build and refine the products and platforms that power the end-to-end claims lifecycle. This role blends traditional product leadership with deep operational insight into claims, requiring both strategic vision and hands-on execution in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Do

Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for SafeLease's claims platform, aligning it with company strategy and measurable business outcomes.

Partner with the Claims organization to understand and optimize the end-to-end claims lifecycle and translate those needs into scalable product solutions.

Integrate AI and automation across the claims lifecycle, identifying opportunities to streamline intake, adjudication, and settlement, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy and speed at scale.

Prioritize, source, and refine the data and tooling that power claims operations, working closely with Engineering to deliver against the roadmap.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Claims, GTM, Support, Finance, and Executive Leadership to define priorities, refine requirements, and ensure go-to-market readiness.

Develop and monitor claims product KPIs (e.g., cycle time, loss adjustment expense, leakage, automation rate, customer satisfaction) to evaluate impact and guide iteration.

Roll up your sleeves to build MVPs, run competitive and market analyses, and lead product revamps, while also presenting insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

Connect product decisions to measurable outcomes, clearly communicating how your work drives growth, efficiency, and business performance.

Facilitate cross-departmental collaboration, managing stakeholder relationships to drive consensus and outcomes on claims priorities.

Minimum Requirements

5+ years of relevant experience in product management, with a track record of owning products or platforms end-to-end, preferably in B2B technology with data-rich problems.

Proven ability to translate technical features into clear business value for both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership.

Strong analytical and technical capability, including proficiency with data tools such as SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau, Metabase, or Power BI to support modeling, insights, and data-driven decision-making.

Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and leading collaboration across Engineering, Product, and business teams.

Skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as interviews, surveys, and statistical analysis.

Experience building and deploying agentic AI solutions (Claude specifically)

Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building or managing products within a claims, insurance, personal lines, or InsurTech environment.

Familiarity with claims management systems and claims process automation.

Understanding of claims regulatory requirements, loss reserving, or fraud/leakage mitigation.

MBA or advanced degree.

Proficiency with product and project management tools (e.g., Notion).

Experience in the self-storage and/or insurance industry.
