About the role

The main purpose of the Senior Ecommerce SEO & GEO Strategist is to develop, manage, and execute strategic organic search initiatives that drive sustainable revenue growth for our ecommerce clients. This includes leading SEO strategy across a portfolio of ecommerce brands while helping shape our emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) services.

You will be responsible for analyzing performance, identifying growth opportunities, solving complex technical SEO challenges, and translating data into actionable strategies that improve organic visibility, conversions, and revenue. You will work closely with Account Managers, Developers, Content Writers, Designers, and other specialists to ensure recommendations are effectively implemented and aligned with each client's commercial objectives.

Alongside client work, you will contribute strategic insights and analysis to Hustler Marketing's own SEO initiatives, supporting inbound lead generation and helping evolve our agency's SEO, GEO, and AEO methodologies.

The Senior Ecommerce SEO & GEO Strategist will report directly to the Head of SEO & GEO while working collaboratively with other departments.
About the Role
Mission Statement
The primary mission of our Senior Ecommerce SEO & GEO Strategist is to maximize sustainable organic revenue growth for our ecommerce clients through strategic SEO, technical excellence, and data-driven decision-making.

You will be responsible for building long-term SEO strategies, diagnosing performance changes, identifying new growth opportunities, and ensuring that SEO efforts contribute directly to commercial success rather than simply increasing rankings or traffic.

As search continues to evolve, you will also help establish and improve our GEO and AEO services by researching emerging AI search platforms, developing new methodologies, and ensuring our clients remain visible across traditional search engines as well as AI-powered discovery platforms.

Collaborating with Developers, Content Writers, Designers, Outreach Specialists, and Account Managers to ensure SEO recommendations are implemented effectively

Translating technical SEO findings into clear development tickets with priorities, requirements, and expected business impact

Monitoring implementation quality and validating completed SEO recommendations

Leading client strategy meetings, performance reviews, and quarterly business reviews while clearly communicating technical and commercial findings

Providing clients with strategic recommendations supported by evidence, analysis, and commercial impact rather than generic SEO best practices

Helping develop and continuously improve Hustler Marketing's GEO and AEO methodologies, frameworks, deliverables, reporting, and measurement systems

Researching emerging AI search platforms including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, and other AI-powered search experiences

Performing prompt research to better understand how consumers discover, compare, and evaluate products through AI platforms

Evaluating client visibility across AI search platforms and identifying opportunities to improve citations, recommendations, structured data, entity consistency, product feeds, authority signals, reviews, and content extractability

Staying informed about developments across SEO, GEO, AI search, ecommerce, and search engine algorithms while separating meaningful trends from industry speculation

Contributing strategic analysis and recommendations to Hustler Marketing's own SEO initiatives

Continuously researching industry best practices and sharing findings with the Head of SEO & GEO and the wider team

Supporting other internal departments with SEO-related expertise when required

Requirements
About You
Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced ecommerce SEO professional who combines deep technical expertise with exceptional analytical thinking and commercial awareness. You understand that rankings and traffic are only meaningful when they contribute to business growth and revenue.

You have significant experience leading SEO strategy for ecommerce brands, working across technical SEO, content strategy, information architecture, and performance analysis. You are comfortable investigating complex technical issues, interpreting conflicting datasets, identifying root causes behind performance changes, and presenting strategic recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You are naturally curious about how search is evolving and have already begun exploring AI-powered search experiences, GEO, and AEO. While you may not have mastered every aspect of these emerging disciplines, you actively test new developments, evaluate evidence critically, and enjoy building new methodologies.

The right person is highly analytical, commercially minded, proactive, accountable, and capable of independently leading strategic SEO initiatives while collaborating effectively across multiple teams in a remote environment.
Key Requirements

Significant hands-on experience leading SEO strategy for ecommerce websites

Strong experience working with Shopify or Shopify Plus and BigCommerce (experience with Magento, Adobe Commerce, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WooCommerce, or headless commerce platforms is an advantage)

Advanced knowledge of technical SEO, particularly for large ecommerce websites and product catalogs

Strong experience using Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Semrush, Looker Studio, and other SEO analysis tools

Excellent understanding of keyword research, search intent, information architecture, internal linking, on-page optimization, and ecommerce content strategy

Proven ability to connect SEO performance with business metrics including conversions, transactions, average order value, and revenue

Experience diagnosing SEO performance changes across organic search while accounting for paid campaigns, promotions, merchandising, seasonality, and tracking issues

Strong experience translating SEO audits into prioritized implementation roadmaps and actionable development requirements

Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

Ability to independently prioritize high-impact opportunities instead of producing generic SEO recommendations

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with confidence presenting strategy and performance to clients and senior stakeholders

Strong organizational skills, accountability, responsiveness, and ability to consistently meet deadlines

Experience working remotely and collaborating across cross-functional teams is a major advantage

Working knowledge of GEO, AEO, AI search platforms, or AI-powered discovery tools is highly desirable, although practical curiosity and willingness to learn are valued more than claiming expertise

Familiarity with structured data, product feeds, entity optimization, AI visibility measurement, and ecommerce SEO best practices is a strong advantage

Experience with SQL, Python, JavaScript, APIs, log-file analysis, or advanced data visualization tools is considered a plus

Must be available and responsive during office hours (Mondays to Fridays between 3-6 PM BCN time)

Must consistently work 30-35 hours per week (approximately 140 hours per month)

Must have a stable internet connection and a laptop or desktop computer capable of attending virtual meetings

Must be open to receiving constructive feedback while also providing thoughtful feedback to colleagues to help improve team performance
