Job Description
NEC Digital Studio is looking for a passionate and experienced design leader to help shape the future of digital healthcare. 
Reporting functionally to the Head of Product within NEC Health, you'll define and drive the user experience strategy across our portfolio of screening, real-world evidence, registries and pathway management solutions. You'll own the evolution of the NEC Health design system, creating a consistent, intuitive and accessible experience across our products and services. 
This is both a strategic and hands-on role, combining UX leadership, design delivery, and coaching the wider product team best practice design principles. You'll work closely with customers, clinicians, product and engineering teams to improve patient outcomes, support value-based healthcare, and championing a culture of exceptional design as well a the use of latest technologies. 
As part of NEC Digital Studio's UX/UI Community of Practice, you'll also contribute to and benefit from a wider network of design expertise across NEC. 
Key Responsibilities 
Design Leadership & Portfolio Ownership 
Define and own the UX vision for the NEC Health portfolio. 
Lead the development and governance of a unified NEC Health Design System. 
Drive consistency in user experience, interaction patterns, accessibility standards and visual language across all Health products and services. 
Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners and Engineering teams to embed design excellence throughout the product lifecycle. 
Experience working within multidisciplinary delivery teams. 
Shape a seamless NEC Health Suite experience, enabling users to move effortlessly between products and services. 
Lead design activities on strategic programmes and high-priority initiatives. 
Produce and oversee user flows, wireframes, prototypes and interaction models where required. 
Facilitate workshops, discovery activities and co-design sessions with customers and users. 
Coaching & Capability Development 
Mentor Product Managers, Product Owners and wider stakeholders in user-centred design and design thinking. 
Increase design maturity across the Health division. 
Promote best practices in accessibility, usability testing and evidence-based design. 
Help teams embed customer-centric thinking into product development. 
Stakeholder & Customer Engagement 
Build trusted relationships with healthcare organisations, NHS stakeholders, clinicians and customers. 
Present and defend design decisions to senior stakeholders and executive audiences. 
Translate complex healthcare workflows into intuitive, effective digital experiences. 
Act as a trusted advisor on user experience and design strategy. 
Demonstrable experience working with complex stakeholder groups, navigating ambiguity and competing priorities. 
Design Culture & Advocacy 
Champion a culture of simplicity, empathy, accessibility and quality. 
Promote innovative approaches grounded in user needs, evidence and measurable outcomes. 
Drive adoption of design standards, reusable patterns and best practices across the organisation. 
Help establish NEC Health as a recognised leader in healthcare user experience and digital product design. 
Technology 
A clear active interest in the latest technology and tooling for software design and beyond. 
Demonstrable Experience with Figma 
Experience using Figma Make and/or other AI design tools 
Qualifications
Demonstrable Experience working as a UX Designer
Experience with Leadership 
Experience within Health would be desirable
Experience working to GDS standards 
Previous experience working with Multidisciplinary Project Teams
Stakeholder Management 
Experience of Accessibility and WCAG Standards
