What We Do
The Navigation SDK team builds frameworks and applications that power navigation everywhere. Customers of our SDK include automotive, logistics and consumer apps on Android, iOS and Linux, small and large. Our customers build apps and navigation experiences that top the App Store and Play Store rankings, and we are constantly working together to help them build what’s next, whether that’s an Augmented Reality app, an AI powered experience, a popular consumer app, or an autonomous driving experience.
 
What You'll Do
As an Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the Nav iOS SDK team in advancing the maps and navigation ecosystem at Mapbox. In this role, you will:
Mentor and Develop Talent: Support and inspire engineers, fostering a culture of growth, creativity, and innovation.

Promote Collaboration and Innovation: Build an inclusive and collaborative environment where data-driven decisions fuel success.

Drive Strategic Objectives: Align your team’s work with company and product goals, ensuring strategic cohesion.

Define Product Roadmaps: Partner with Product and Engineering teams to shape the roadmap for our Nav SDKs.

Shape the Vision: Play a key role in envisioning and evolving our rendering engines, contributing to business and product planning.

 
What We Believe are Important Traits for This Role
Leadership Experience: 3+ years of engineering management experience. Proven track record of leading technical teams to deliver impactful products. Experience managing cross-functional teams of 5+ people.

Technical Expertise: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in mobile software development (iOS or Android).

Experience developing Mobile SDKs, including SDK architecture, API design, and design patterns, is a nice-to-have.

Knowledge of Maps, Navigation, Location Technologies such as GIS systems is a nice to have.

Talent Acquisition and Development: A track record of hiring and growing top technical talent.

Operational Excellence: Commitment to monitoring, metrics, and continuous improvement processes.

High Standards and Quality: Balancing speed and quality to uphold an excellent developer experience.

Ownership and Execution: Confidence in leading vision, strategy, and execution for high-impact projects.

Customer Focus: Passion for solving customer problems and delivering delightful experiences.

Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in English (C1 level minimum) is required for daily stakeholder communication.
