Hours and Salary

The team work throughout the region and operate on two rosters:

Whilst away they are on a 9 on 5 off roster - travelling Tuesday working through the weekend on penalty rates and return the following Wednesday
Whilst working locally the team operate on a 9 day fortnight – Monday to Friday, then Monday to Thursday
There is flexibility to switch rosters when you need
All travel is on work time. You meet at the depot and travel together from there on paid time

Purpose that Counts.

Working out of our Townsville depot, your role is to maximise machine availability by efficiently maintaining, servicing, repairing and performing approved modifications on our world-class resurfacing fleet. This includes ballast regulators, tamper-liners, and other essential civil plant equipment.

We are a dedicated team of 14 skilled Plant Fitters and 1 Electrician, covering a vast and diverse area stretching from Rockhampton to Cairns, Townsville to Mt Isa, and including the Croydon to Normanton line.

In this role you will:

Carry out effective and efficient preventative maintenance
Practice effective troubleshooting methods to repair plant breakdowns
Ensure all aspects of work are compliant with Queensland Rail’s policies and safe work procedures
Prepare and provide plant maintenance documentation and reports

Mechanical Trade Certificate
Current manual drivers’ licence
Capacity to travel and work throughout regional Queensland
