About the role

Position Summary
The Chief Crypto Officer (CCO) is responsible for leading the organization's cryptocurrency, blockchain, digital asset, and Web3 strategy. This executive develops and oversees crypto-related products, services, partnerships, regulatory compliance, risk management, and innovation initiatives. The role ensures that the organization remains competitive within the rapidly evolving digital asset ecosystem while maintaining security, governance, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute the organization's cryptocurrency and digital asset strategy.

Identify emerging opportunities in blockchain, decentralized finance (DeFi), tokenization, stablecoins, and digital asset custody.

Advise executive leadership and the Board on crypto market developments and trends.

Drive innovation through blockchain-based business models and digital asset solutions.

Establish long-term growth plans for crypto-related business lines.

Digital Asset Management

Oversee cryptocurrency treasury management and digital asset portfolios.

Develop policies governing the acquisition, custody, transfer, and storage of digital assets.

Monitor market conditions and recommend asset allocation strategies.

Ensure robust wallet management and digital asset security protocols.

Product & Business Development

Lead development of crypto-enabled products and services.

Identify strategic partnerships with exchanges, custodians, blockchain networks, and fintech providers.

Evaluate opportunities for tokenization, smart contracts, NFTs, and decentralized applications (dApps).

Support go-to-market strategies for blockchain and digital asset initiatives.

Regulatory Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with applicable cryptocurrency regulations, AML/KYC requirements, sanctions screening, and financial crime prevention measures.

Monitor global regulatory developments impacting digital assets.

Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Audit teams.

Establish governance frameworks for blockchain and crypto operations.

Risk Management

Develop enterprise-wide digital asset risk management policies.

Oversee cybersecurity controls related to blockchain infrastructure and digital assets.

Assess operational, market, liquidity, custody, and counterparty risks.

Implement fraud prevention and incident response procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

Represent the organization in industry forums, regulatory discussions, and blockchain communities.

Build relationships with regulators, technology providers, investors, and industry associations.

Provide thought leadership on digital assets and blockchain innovation.

Team Leadership

Build and lead high-performing crypto, blockchain, and digital asset teams.

Foster a culture of innovation, compliance, and operational excellence.

Mentor executives and technical leaders involved in crypto initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Education

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Master's degree preferred.

Professional certifications in blockchain, digital assets, cybersecurity, or financial services are advantageous.

Experience

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in financial services, fintech, blockchain, cryptocurrency, digital assets, or technology sectors.

Proven experience managing crypto products, blockchain platforms, or digital asset operations.

Strong understanding of cryptocurrency markets, blockchain technologies, and Web3 ecosystems.

Experience working with regulators and compliance frameworks related to digital assets.

Technical Knowledge
