Summary/Objective
The Business Development Manager (Consultant) will support new business development with diagnostics manufacturers across the U.S. and Canada. The primary focus of this role is to leverage industry knowledge and professional networks to create strong introductions, secure initial appointments, and support strategic proposal development to expand the company’s diagnostics business. This individual will engage with Procurement and R&D stakeholders, identify high‑value opportunities, and provide advisory support through early deal formation. The consultant will also help strengthen collaboration and communication between North American customers and internal teams, including colleagues in Japan.
Essential Functions
Identify, research, and connect with diagnostics manufacturers in North America (U.S. and Canada), with an emphasis on companies engaged in human clinical testing and in vitro diagnostics (IVD).

Establish relationships with key decision-makers, including Procurement, R&D, and technical evaluation teams.

Facilitate introductions and secure initial appointments, meetings, and qualified leads.

Support the development, alignment, and preparation of proposals to ensure consistency with customer needs and company capabilities.

Provide business development advisory support through early‑stage deal formation.

Arrange and coordinate technical discussions between customers and internal teams as needed.

Monitor progress of early business activities and assist with follow-up to maintain engagement.

Assist colleagues from Japan during customer interactions to ensure clear communication and cultural understanding.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Life Sciences, Chemistry, Business) preferred.

Experience within the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) industry, especially human clinical testing.

Strong network and established connections with diagnostics companies in the U.S. and Canada.

B2B experience involving technical products, with the ability to understand and articulate technical concepts.

Ability to support proposal development and strategic alignment for new business initiatives.

Preferred: business development experience, biotech background, or broad industry network.

A proactive, entrepreneurial mindset (“frontiersman spirit”) with the ability to identify and develop new customer relationships, even without prior contacts.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for building and sustaining long‑term relationships.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time position with remote option.
Physical Demands
This position may require occasional standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 10-15 pounds. The role involves frequent use of a computer and other office equipment, as well as sitting for extended periods of time.
Travel
This position requires domestic and/or international travel for business purposes. The frequency of travel will be dependent upon business requirements. This position requires the ability to drive for business purposes. Possession of a valid state driver’s license and a valid passport are required.
