As our Payroll Associate, you'll make sure people across our African markets get paid accurately and on time. It's detail-heavy work with a direct, immediate impact on every employee's paycheck.
What You'll Do
Support end-to-end payroll processing across multiple African countries, from input validation through to disbursement under the supervision of the Payroll Manager.
Review payroll inputs received from HR for completeness and accuracy, and chase down anything missing or inconsistent before cut-off.
Process approved payroll changes — new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, leave, and benefits.
Coordinate submissions with external payroll providers, track processing timelines, and investigate discrepancies before approval.
Prepare payroll journals and reconcile payroll-related balance sheet accounts.
Generate recurring and ad hoc payroll reports, and support month-end and year-end reporting and audits.
Respond to employee payroll queries professionally
Stay current on payroll legislation, statutory deductions, and labour law across our African markets, and keep internal controls, policies, and process documentation compliant and audit-ready.
What You'll Bring (Must-Have)
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
1–3 years of payroll experience.
Hands-on experience using payroll software.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the discretion to handle confidential payroll data with integrity.
What Would Make You Stand Out (Nice-to-Have)
Experience supporting payroll across multiple African countries, in a high-growth, multi-entity organization.
Experience working with outsourced payroll providers, including preparing payroll journals and reconciliations.
Familiarity with BambooHR (or similar HRIS) and NetSuite (or similar ERP).
Working knowledge of payroll tax, statutory deductions, and labour legislation across African jurisdictions.
