Data Modeler
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler to design, develop, and maintain enterprise data models that support business and technology initiatives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transforming business requirements into logical and physical data models, managing enterprise metadata, and ensuring adherence to industry-standard data modeling practices. This role requires strong analytical skills, expertise in relational and dimensional modeling, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across diverse business and technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and normalize logical data models to Third Normal Form (3NF).
Facilitate workshops and discussions with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to identify entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules.
Create and maintain detailed conceptual, logical, and physical data models using industry-standard methodologies such as IDEF or equivalent frameworks.
Develop, manage, and govern enterprise data models and associated metadata.
Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and technical teams to define and document semantic data models.
Translate logical data models and semantic models into optimized physical database designs.
Enhance existing enterprise data models to support evolving business requirements and key business entities.
Evaluate and optimize data access paths across multiple platforms and technologies.
Provide recommendations for improving performance, scalability, and data integration across heterogeneous environments.
Support data architecture initiatives and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, design patterns, and best practices.
Participate in Agile or Waterfall project delivery methodologies based on project requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
3–4+ years of experience in data warehouse and enterprise data modeling.
Strong expertise in relational database design and normalization techniques.
Hands-on experience with dimensional data modeling for analytics and reporting environments.
Deep understanding of business process analysis and business information modeling.
Strong knowledge of data modeling methodologies, standards, and best practices.
Experience conducting stakeholder workshops and facilitating requirements gathering sessions.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, design patterns, and implementation approaches.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional business and technology teams.
Experience working within Agile and/or Waterfall project environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Data Vault modeling methodologies.
Knowledge of Big Data architectures and key-based modeling techniques.
Understanding of metadata management and data governance practices.
Experience within the Financial Services industry.
Strong facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
