About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Senior Finance & Payroll Accountant to join our growing remote finance team supporting Australian-based businesses.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in end-to-end Australian payroll processing, structured finance operations, reconciliations, and process improvement, within a collaborative and technology-driven remote environment.
You will work closely with finance leadership and play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll execution, compliance with Australian statutory requirements, month-end integrity, and continuous improvement across finance systems and workflows, particularly within multi-entity environments using NetSuite.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable and Receivable

Process supplier invoices and manage end-to-end payment workflows

Prepare and execute scheduled payment runs

Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies

Generate customer invoices and support collections follow-ups

Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier and customer records

Payroll and Compliance (AU Focus – End-to-End Ownership)

Run end-to-end Australian payroll cycles using systems such as Employment Hero (or similar platforms)

Manage full payroll processing including:
Employee onboarding and payroll setup

Regular pay runs and adjustments

Termination and final pay calculations

Ensure compliance with Australian statutory requirements, including:
Superannuation processing and submissions

STP (Single Touch Payroll) reporting

PAYG withholding obligations and reporting

Reconcile payroll-related accounts and resolve discrepancies

Maintain accuracy across payroll registers, summaries, and statutory filings

Reconciliation and Month-End Support

Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

Process intercompany transactions and reconciliations across entities

Support month-end close activities, including:
Journals

Accruals

Prepayments

Balance sheet reconciliations

Assist with audit preparation and finance documentation

Process Improvement and Systems

Improve finance and payroll processes, workflows, and documentation

Support automation and efficiency initiatives across finance operations

Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and ad hoc requests

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency

Work within
NetSuite (or similar ERP systems) to support multi-entity finance operations

Other Responsibilities

Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned by leadership.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial and executive information.

Stay proactive in identifying opportunities to improve systems, reporting, and support processes.

Contribute to a collaborative and high-performing remote team environment.

About You

CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent experience)

Minimum 3+ years’ experience in accounting, payroll, or finance operations

Strong experience running end-to-end Australian payroll cycles (essential)

Hands-on experience with:
Employment Hero (or similar AU payroll systems)

STP reporting, Superannuation, and PAYG compliance

Experience working with NetSuite or similar ERP systems (highly desirable)

Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

Confident working with reconciliations, structured processes, and deadlines

Strong communication and organisational skills

Able to work independently in a remote environment

Experience in multi-entity or high-volume finance environments is highly regarded

Exposure to cloud-based finance tools and automation is an advantage
