Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a Full Time Remote Compliance Specialist to join our team.
The Compliance Specialist will work collaboratively with the Director of Compliance to promote adherence to all regulatory and organizational policy as it relates to compliance, non-discrimination, and confidentiality. The Compliance Specialist will contribute to and participate in investigations, development of training, respond to critical reports of compliance and confidentiality reports, participate in the Compliance Committee, and participate in and co-facilitate ongoing audit readiness activities. Additionally, the coordinator will participate in ongoing compliance audits and HIPAA/Confidentiality Site Visits to ensure organizational adherence to required standards. The position will also oversee all BH audit readiness, quality assurance, and compliance activities, including policy review, participation in Death Reviews, the Zero Suicide Initiative, risk/compliance audits. In collaboration with program management, ensure that corrective action plans are implemented and maintained and that all documentation and reporting requirements are prepared and maintained in a professional and well-coordinated manner, consistent with all applicable external reporting requirements and internal policies
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Compliance Specialist:

Assist the Vice President, Risk Management, Compliance & Patient Experience in development and implementation of the Compliance program plan and evaluation.

Facilitate quality and compliance assurance activities to promote program conformance with expectations set forth by oversight entities, including the NYS OMH, DOH, HRSA, FTCA and other accrediting bodies

Develops additional audit tools to assess organization compliance with internal and external regulations as they apply to chart documentation. Conducts audits and assess/trend audit findings across program sites to identify improvement opportunities.

Conducts Death Reviews in partnership with Behavioral Health Medical Directors as required by OMH.

Contribute to or leads critical investigations, responds to critical reports of compliance and confidentiality concerns, and report activities to the Compliance Committee.

Conducts HIPAA/Confidentiality Site Visits to ensure organizational adherence to required standards.

Participate in audit readiness activities and site visit preparations.

Review of organizational policies and procedures on an annual basis.

In collaboration with program management, ensure that corrective action plans are implemented and maintained and that all documentation and reporting requirements are prepared and maintained in a professional and well-coordinated manner, consistent with all applicable external reporting requirements and internal policies

Identify staff training needs, develop training curriculums, and present training as part of ongoing efforts to improve staff knowledge. Additionally, complete any routine education communication (Sunny Rivers, Etc.)

Oversee the development of clear, concise, timely and actionable written audit reports reflecting review findings and recommendations for presentation to Executive, Management and Program Staff.

All other assignments and activities as requested by VP of Risk Management and Patient Experience.

Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education: Master's Degree
