About the role

Alternative Payments is building the financial operating system for SMBs, consolidating the disconnected tech stack that holds service-based businesses back. Starting with MSPs, we've spent five years perfecting accounts receivable, and we're now expanding into accounts payable, AI-powered analytics, and beyond. We're at an inflection point: closing the loop on money movement and laying the foundation for a platform that will reshape how service businesses operate financially.
We're growing fast, thinking big, and building a global team that wants to be part of something that lasts. We believe the best solutions come from diverse perspectives, deep collaboration, and a shared obsession with customer impact. If you're energized by real problems, real customers, and real impact, we want to hear from you!

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a driven, coachable, and competitive Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our team. Our BDRs are the engine of our outbound growth and this is a hands-on prospecting role focused on creating pipelines from scratch.
You will identify and create new business opportunities through high-volume outbound outreach, develop strong discovery and messaging skills, and help us build a repeatable outbound playbook as we scale. This role is ideal for someone who wants to master outbound sales and grow into a future AE or revenue leadership path.
Candidates must be located in the GTA, as this is a hybrid position requiring candidates to come into the Downtown Toronto office 3-4 days a week (Mon - Wed+).
Key Responsibilities:

Outbound Pipeline Creation: Own prospecting into targeted accounts through cold calling (80 - 100/day), email, and social outreach. Research accounts, personalize messaging, and consistently generate qualified meetings that convert into pipeline.

Structured Execution: Operate with discipline and consistency against daily activity targets. Maintain accurate CRM hygiene, track performance metrics, and continuously test and refine outreach strategies.

Product & Industry Fluency: Develop a strong understanding of Alternative Payments’ platform and the Managed Service Provider (MSP) ecosystem. Stay curious about fintech trends and emerging tools (including AI!) that improve outbound effectiveness.

Sales Strategy Collaboration: Work closely with Account Executives and sales leadership to refine messaging, share market feedback, and contribute to scalable outbound strategies.

Team Contribution: Participate actively in coaching, training, and peer collaboration to continuously elevate individual and team performance.

What you will Bring (Required)

Core Attributes

High internal drive and competitiveness, with comfort handling rejection and high outbound volume

Strong coachability and willingness to implement feedback quickly

Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills

Organized, systems-oriented approach to managing work and data

Experience: We are open to two profiles

Option A: Early Sales Experience (1–2 years)

Experience in outbound sales, SDR/BDR, or related roles

Track record of meeting or exceeding activity or meeting targets

Experience maintaining accurate CRM records

Nice to have:

Experience in fintech, payments, or the MSP ecosystem

Startup or high-growth company experience

Familiarity with modern sales tools or AI-assisted prospecting workflows

Option B: High-Drive Career Starter

Experience in high-performance or customer-facing environments (e.g., athletics, hospitality, recruitment, or similar)

Demonstrated grit, consistency, and goal achievement

Strong interest in building a long-term career in sales and fintech

We value mindset, work ethic, and growth potential as much as prior experience.
