About the role

Marketing Manager
Remote, South Africa. Full-time, permanent, UK hours. R30,000 per month.
Read this before you apply
This is a senior seat at a company of four people. Nobody will train you and nobody has time to check your work. If you need a manager to break tasks down for you, this is not the job. If you have run the whole marketing channel for a small business and you are good at it, keep reading.
The company
Our client is a London-based AI training and transformation consultancy, a year and a half old, founder-led, growing. They teach leadership teams what AI can actually do for their business, then build it with them: data readiness, workflow analysis, AI literacy training, custom AI agents. Two founders, a small payroll, and a fractional CMO who sets direction.
The job
You run marketing end to end for a small, fast-growing business. The fractional CMO owns the strategy, the calendar and the priorities. Everything downstream of that is yours: you take the brief and you deliver it, properly, without being chased and without being taught.
You will be across all of it, social, content, email, events, analytics, paid. But we are not looking for someone who is average at everything. We want you to be genuinely strong in one or two areas and competent across the rest.
What you will actually do

Take a brief from the fractional CMO and execute it end to end, first time, to a standard nobody has to correct

Build and ship email campaigns and automated sequences in ActiveCampaign, including event follow-up flows segmented by who attended and who did not

Own the content and publishing calendar across LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram

Write. Short-form copy, campaign emails, social, show notes. You will not have a copywriter sitting next to you

Run the SEO programme: what topics the business should own, and the content that wins them

Run and optimise paid campaigns where they earn their place, and report honestly on what they cost and what they returned

Own comms for live events and online workshops, announcement through to post-event follow-up

Keep the tracking honest and produce a monthly report that tells the founders what moved and why

Use AI properly in daily production, not as a novelty

What you need

You have owned marketing end to end at a small business, a startup, or directly for founders. Not a slice of a large corporate marketing department. If your best work was one channel inside a big company, this will not suit you and we would rather say so now

Real depth in one or two areas. SEO and content, or Meta and paid social, or email and lifecycle, or analytics and attribution. Be excellent at something

Numbers you can defend. Not "improved engagement". What was it before, what was it after, what did the business get, and how do you know. You will be asked to walk through a campaign in detail, including what it cost per lead and why that figure is credible

Technical by instinct. You pick up new tools quickly, you have built things yourself, and you use AI because you understand what it can do, not because it is fashionable

You deliver alone. Remote, lightly managed, off a written brief, on time

Experienced enough to have been there and done it. This is not a first or second marketing job

Nice to have

ActiveCampaign specifically, though any serious automation platform transfers

Event marketing

Podcast or video production

Experience marketing a B2B service to business leaders

Two things we will ask you directly
What else are you contracted to do? This is a full-time role and it has to be your only one. We ask everybody, and we ask it first.
Walk me through a campaign you ran, with the numbers. Three of them, with the starting point as well as the finish. If you cannot do that from memory, do not apply yet.
What you get
Full ownership of marketing delivery at a company selling the thing every business is currently trying to work out, with a fractional CMO who knows what he wants and tells you clearly. Full-time, permanent, UK hours, paid in rands into a South African account. Employed through Remote Recruitment, working as part of the client's team.
Equipment
Reliable laptop, stable fibre, quiet professional home working setup.
Process
A recorded screening interview with us, then a task and a final conversation with the founder and the fractional CMO. You will hear back within 24 hours of every stage.
