Senior Full-Stack Developer - Marketplace Web & Mobile Platform
We have a big idea, and we’re looking for a top-notch Senior Full-Stack Developer to help us bring it to life.
We’re building a new contractor referral and services marketplace, think Thumbtack or Angi, where clients can easily find and connect with contractors and service providers. The vision includes both an interactive web platform and mobile app, with everything from user accounts and referrals to job tracking, payments, advertising, and more.
This is a fully remote, full-time, ongoing position, and we’re open to applicants worldwide.
There are a lot of moving pieces, which is exactly why we’re looking for someone who has built something like this before and gets excited about taking a platform from an idea to a working product, then continuing to grow it with us.
What You’ll Help Us Build
The platform will have two main sides: clients looking for services and contractors/vendors looking for business.
Some of the functionality we’re planning includes:
Client and contractor/vendor accounts and profiles
Contractor listings, categories, search, and filtering
Service requests, inquiries, referrals, and lead management
Job and project tracking
Client and vendor dashboards
Online payments and transaction tracking
Reviews and ratings
Notifications and communications
Banner advertising and paid promotional opportunities
Admin tools for managing the platform
Reporting and analytics
Secure management of user, job, and transaction data
And probably more! We have a strong vision for where we want this to go, but we also want the right developer to help us determine the smartest way to build it.
This will be an evolving platform, so we’re looking for someone who wants to grow with it, not simply complete a checklist of features.
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to find someone with strong experience in full-stack web and mobile development, especially someone who has worked on a marketplace, booking platform, service-provider network, or another multi-user platform.
You should be comfortable with:
Full-stack web development
Mobile or cross-platform app development
Strong front-end and back-end development
Multi-user marketplace platforms
User authentication and account management
Payment gateway integrations
Databases and APIs
Third-party integrations
Dashboards and reporting
Secure, scalable application architecture
Cloud hosting and deployment
Testing, maintenance, and optimization
Using modern AI-powered development tools and integrating AI capabilities into web and mobile applications
If you’ve worked on something similar to Thumbtack, Angi, TaskRabbit, Upwork, or another two-sided marketplace, we definitely want to hear about it.
More Than Just Coding
We’re not looking for someone who simply waits for a list of instructions and starts coding.
We want someone who can look at the big picture, ask the right questions, recommend the best technical approach, flag potential challenges, and help turn our ideas into a platform that’s intuitive, scalable, and built to grow.
You’ll also be expected to study established platforms like Thumbtack and Angi, understand how their user journeys and marketplace functionality work from both the client and service-provider sides, and use those learnings to help us determine the best approach for our own platform.
You should be able to take the project through planning, architecture, development, testing, launch, and beyond, while communicating clearly with a non-technical team along the way.
Strong spoken and written English communication skills are important. You should be comfortable discussing ideas, explaining technical decisions clearly, and communicating regularly with a non-technical team.
This is not a short-term build-and-leave project. We’re looking for someone who can stay with the platform as it grows, helping us continually improve, expand, and maintain it over time.
