At TACTILIA, we are building the industry-ready robotic hand that closes one of the biggest gaps in Physical AI. Spun out of SCHUNK, the global market leader in gripping technology, we combine a decade of robotic-hand expertise and real industrial access with the speed and ambition of a deep-tech startup.
This isn't a research project waiting for its first customer. We already have a product, customers are ready to use it, and we are launching now. Your work will directly shape the electronics, actuators, and embedded systems that make that possible.
You will join at the moment when the hard engineering questions become real product decisions: how do we make a highly capable robotic hand reliable, manufacturable, serviceable, and simple enough to deploy on a real shop floor?
The Role:
As a (Senior) Systems Engineer, you will own the system-level architecture of our robotic hand and ensure that its mechanical, electrical, actuator, electronics and software subsystems work together as one reliable product.
You will define system and subsystem interfaces, translate requirements into technical solutions, drive system-level trade-offs and lead integration from concept through validation. This is a hands-on role spanning architecture, technical decisions, prototyping and real-world problem solving.
What you will do:
Define and evolve the system architecture of the robotic hand
Define and manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical, actuator, electronics and software subsystems
Translate product requirements into system requirements, specifications and technical concepts
Develop and integrate actuator, sensing, electronics and control concepts
Drive system-level trade-offs across performance, reliability, cost and manufacturability
Identify technical risks and dependencies and drive them to resolution
Lead system integration, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
Define and support system verification and validation
Work closely with mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware, controls and robotics engineers
What you bring:
Degree in Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or a related field
Several years of experience in systems engineering, system architecture or complex mechatronic products
Strong understanding of system architecture and interface management
Experience with actuators, motors, drives, sensors and/or embedded control systems
Experience with requirements, specifications and system verification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across subsystem boundaries
Hands-on mindset and experience taking products from concept through integration and validation
For Senior: experience owning system architecture and driving technical decisions across disciplines
Bonus:
Experience with robotic hands, grippers or manipulators
Experience with compact actuator architectures
Knowledge of robotics communication interfaces and protocols
Experience with FMEA, functional safety or reliability engineering
