About the role

In Renaissance Florence, wealthy merchants faced a dilemma: where could they safely store their gold without it sitting idle. The Medici family offered a radical alternative. They invited individuals to deposit their gold and other assets with their institution, promising not only secure storage but also active deployment in trade and finance and accessible when needed. This groundbreaking approach allowed depositors to earn tangible returns on their wealth, offering a sophisticated alternative to traditional, static storage. The spirit of innovation and financial ingenuity that defined Renaissance Florence finds a powerful echo in the modern startup world.
Mercury brings that same spirit to building an exceptional banking* experience for all. We’ve created an investment platform that helps startups put idle cash to work by combining safety and yield in one elegant package. Think of it as institutional-grade cash management reimagined for ambitious startups.
Treasury is a team of full-stack engineers that are building the end to end onboarding, portfolio recommendation, dashboard, and tooling experiences that manage billions in customer funds. We operate with a high degree of quality and care because we understand that today's startups, like their historical counterparts, require solutions that go beyond.
*Mercury is a fintech company, not an FDIC-insured bank. Banking services provided through Choice Financial Group and Column N.A., Members FDIC.
As part of this role, you will:

Lead high-impact, cross-functional, customer facing projects that touch Treasury engineering, operations, compliance, banking, and risk teams

Define the technical architecture and experience of the Treasury product

Collaborate with product, design, and operations to ship thoughtful features for our customers and internal users

Own and actively take responsibility for the product – we want someone excited to help shape and build Mercury’s future

Join a team of experienced and junior product engineers managing billions of dollars of customer assets

The ideal candidate for the role:

Has 5+ years of professional full stack software engineering experience building and operating backend systems to customer facing experiences

Communicates and collaborates effectively with peers and cross-functional counterparts by being helpful and engaged

Has a successful track record acting as the technical lead of complex projects with multiple stakeholders

Is a product-minded engineer who thinks about the developers consuming your APIs as well as always exceeding our customers expectations, not just shipping the feature

Has domain knowledge of being a registered investment advisor and broker-dealer supporting both individual securities (equities, fixed income) as well as mutual funds

Excited to mentor both junior and senior engineers
