About the Role:

Every employee gets paid on time because someone got the details right. Payroll is where people, money and compliance meet, and this apprenticeship is your way in. As a Payroll Apprentice on HighLevel’s India Payroll team, you will see how payroll really runs inside a fast-growing, global, remote-first company: the payroll inbox, ticket tracking, documentation, data entry and Excel-based reporting, all under the guidance and supervision of the Payroll Manager and team.

This is a learning and support role. You will receive ongoing guidance, training, and supervision while building practical skills in payroll operations, data management, reporting, and using AI tools to make administrative work faster and smarter. The focus is on learning and administrative support rather than independent ownership of payroll activities. No prior payroll experience is required; curiosity and an eye for detail are enough to start.

How We’ll Support You

You will learn on the job with a supervisor and a team behind you, and every task you take on is reviewed and supported.

A named supervisor: the Payroll Manager provides day-to-day guidance and reviews your work.

Structured onboarding that introduces India payroll processes, the team’s tools, and ticket handling.

On-the-job learning against a training plan, with regular check-ins to review progress and feedback.

Practical training in Excel and in using AI tools for administrative work.

Clear boundaries: tasks are assigned and reviewed by the team, and you do not independently own payroll activities.

Regular touchpoints with the team, so remote working never means working alone.

What You Take Away, and Where Payroll Can Take You

By the end of the programme you will have:

A working understanding of the monthly payroll cycle and how a payroll team handles employee queries.

Hands-on experience in Excel reporting, ticket tracking, and process documentation, plus practical use of AI tools at work.

Experience working with a global, remote-first team and a supervisor who has reviewed your work.

A certificate of completion that you can add to your resume.

Payroll experience opens doors to roles that people commonly grow into, such as Payroll Executive or Analyst, Payroll Specialist, Compliance Analyst, HRIS or People Systems Analyst, Compensation and Benefits (Total Rewards) Analyst, and People Analytics or Finance Operations roles. These are illustrative career paths, not commitments.
