Pocket-lint is a leading authority on consumer tech, digital entertainment, and smart home gear, reaching millions of readers with up-to-the-minute news, authoritative reviews, and deep-dive guides.
As a worldwide leader in the tech space, Pocket-lint operates at a rapid pace and we are currently looking for a Streaming & AV (Audio/Visual) Author to join our team on a 1099 freelance basis. This is someone who can create original, high-quality content regarding streaming platforms, smart TVs, home theater setups, and audio/visual hardware in a timely manner.
Your Responsibilities
Research and write original buying guides, tutorials, and news specifically related to streaming hardware, platforms, and AV setups.
Extract the core of a story quickly to deliver informative and timely reports in a fast-paced environment.
Pitch unique, reader-obsessed article topics (e.g., Plex optimization, Roku tips, HDMI standards, Smart TV troubleshooting) to our Editorial team regularly.
Input work into our in-house CMS, as well as find and format images, according to our guidelines.
Stay up to date on the latest streaming ecosystem updates, AV hardware news, and home theater products.
Coordinate with the editorial team for assignments and feedback.
Follow Pocket-lint’s general Editorial Guidelines while producing unique and high-quality content.

Experience and Skills
Relevant experience in writing and editing technology or AV content in the English language.
Deep knowledge and experience with the streaming ecosystem (Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV) and media servers (Plex) are mandatory.
Expert knowledge and broad familiarity with home theater hardware (Smart TVs, HDMI standards, soundbars, audio formats, etc.).
Ability to think analytically; providing insightful commentary that applauds or criticizes industry developments.
Proficiency with SEO practices and experience using a custom CMS.
A self-starter attitude with a passion for staying ahead of the tech curve.
