Junior Software Developer
Overview
The Junior Software Developer will support the development and maintenance of Translate.One's internal applications and systems. This role is ideal for an early-career developer looking to gain hands-on experience working with Laravel, databases, APIs, and modern web technologies.
The primary focus of the role will be troubleshooting software issues, fixing bugs, implementing small enhancements, and assisting senior developers with ongoing projects. The successful candidate will have a strong willingness to learn, attention to detail, and a passion for building reliable software.
Reports to: Head of Product
Key Responsibilities:
Software Development:

Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software bugs across internal applications.

Develop small features and enhancements under the guidance of senior developers.

Assist in maintaining existing Laravel applications and supporting new development initiatives.

Work with MySQL databases to update, troubleshoot, and maintain application data.

Support the development and maintenance of RESTful APIs.

Use Git for source control and participate in code reviews.

Test new functionality and ensure bug fixes are thoroughly validated before deployment.

Assist with system deployments and release activities.

Learn and follow coding standards, development best practices, and internal processes.

Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve system reliability and user experience.

Documentation and Compliance:

Update technical documentation when changes are made to applications or processes.

Assist with maintaining user guides and internal documentation.

Support internal users by investigating technical issues and escalating more complex problems when required.

Ensure all development work complies with company security and data protection standards.

Qualifications:

Proficient in English, with the ability to communicate effectively within an international team.

Basic experience with PHP and Laravel (academic projects or commercial experience).

Familiarity with MySQL or other relational databases.

Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks (Livewire or Alpine.js is advantageous).

Familiarity with REST APIs.

Experience using Git for version control.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Eagerness to learn new technologies and software development practices.

Good attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Interest in AI technologies and localization software would be advantageous but is not essential.

Contract: Contractor basis for a total of 9 months with possibility of extension depending on the business needs
