Help grow an independent magazine dedicated to investigative journalism, culture and ideas.

Clandestine Magazine is looking for a Social Media Manager on a part-time voluntary basis to help grow our social media presence and introduce our work to new audiences.

We are an independent volunteer-led publication covering the stories, ideas and cultural movements shaping our world.

We are not a conventional magazine. Our editorial landscape spans 12 topics —
Affairs — World Affairs, Cities, Environment, Philosophy, Politics and the Progressive World.
Culture — Art, Fashion, Film, Literature, Music and Technology.

Alongside our core features, we publish investigative reporting, immersive gonzo journalism, long-form essays and showcase emerging artists.

As a volunteer-led publication, we're building something with purpose. Beyond journalism, we also support charitable initiatives including a community kitchen and projects supporting people experiencing homelessness.

The Role
You'll take ownership of our social media strategy and help build a distinctive, recognisable presence that reflects the quality of our journalism and creative work.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and executing an Instagram & Tiktok content strategy.
Creating engaging posts, carousels, stories and reels.
Planning and maintaining a content calendar.
Writing compelling captions aligned with our editorial voice.
Growing our audience organically through community engagement.
Identifying trends while maintaining our editorial identity.
Working with editors, writers and artists to showcase new features and projects.
Monitoring performance and suggesting ways to improve reach and engagement.

We're Looking For Someone Who
Has experience managing or growing an Instagram account (personal, professional or voluntary).
Has a strong eye for design, storytelling and visual presentation.
Understands what performs well on Instagram and Tiktok without relying on clickbait.
Is interested in journalism, culture, current affairs or the creative industries.
Is proactive, reliable and enjoys taking initiative.
Can commit a few hours each week.

What You'll Gain
A key leadership role within an ambitious independent publication.
Creative freedom to shape our social media strategy.
Opportunities to collaborate with writers, editors and artists from around the world.
Portfolio-building experience with published work and measurable growth.

About Clandestine

Explore the world — 12 topics.

Clandestine Magazine is an independent publication dedicated to investigative journalism, the cultural zeitgeist and the ideas shaping our time.

We believe in rigorous reporting, thoughtful storytelling and publishing work that is both intellectually engaging and thought-provoking. Our pages bring together investigative features, long-form essays and distinctive voices from around the world.

We are not a conventional magazine. Our editorial landscape spans 12 topics —

Affairs — World Affairs, Cities, Environment, Philosophy, Politics and the Progressive World.

Culture — Art, Fashion, Film, Literature, Music and Technology.

Alongside our core editorial, we publish 'Injustices', examining global issues, overlooked stories and the realities that often escape the headlines. 'Gonzo' features immersive, first-hand reporting, offering deeply personal perspectives on people, places and experiences, while 'Essays' provides a home for considered long-form writing and original thought. Creativity is equally central to Clandestine, and through our 'Your Art Here' section, we offer emerging and established artists a place to showcase their work, celebrating originality and the creative voices that shape the creative disciplines of today.

Beyond publishing, we are committed to supporting charitable initiatives that help those facing hardship. Kindness, compassion and respect for others remain central to our ethos, shaping both our work and the community we continue to build. We work alongside registered charities and currently run two of our own initiatives — a community kitchen providing support for those in need, and a 'Tap for the Homeless' scheme, offering a simple way to provide essential assistance to people experiencing homelessness.

More than a magazine, Clandestine is a collective of curious minds, writers, artists and readers brought together by a shared appreciation for thoughtful journalism and culture.
