About the role

Overview
As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the strategic design, development, and maintenance of cutting-edge software systems for our healthcare SaaS platform. This role serves as a hands-on technical authority designing, coding, and scaling resilient AWS infrastructure and modern Agentic AI systems.
You will oversee large-scale projects, drive innovation, and collaborate with executive leadership to align technical solutions with business goals. You will lead the work of teams of Engineers working across departments within the organization.
Your work in guiding projects and teams helps assure that our solutions offer a high level of technical excellence with integrated, scalable, secure, well designed and automated modern engineering practices.
We create modern, efficient solutions for our customers using appropriate platforms. We do have some infrastructure in mainframe and mid-tier applications. You may be working in any of these areas, and we offer training to help hone your skills where needed.
Responsibilities

Leads the design and development of software applications and systems, ensuring architecture and product approvals are obtained and functional and non-functional requirements are addressed

Leads technical execution for autonomous AI agent integrations, LLM workflows, and multi-agent systems using frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, or CrewAI

Builds and champions production-grade CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation on AWS

Mentors senior engineers, conducts comprehensive code reviews, upholds code quality standards, guides technical team execution, and resolves complex architectural bottlenecks

Develops and implements high-quality, scalable, secure, and performant code using approved architectural patterns, coding standards, and enterprise engineering practices

Resolves complex technical issues through advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, debugging, dependency analysis, and cross-team collaboration

Collaborates with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to define project scope, requirements, priorities, and timelines

Ensures software solutions comply with applicable healthcare industry standards, security expectations, regulatory requirements, and internal governance practices

Works as part of an Agile team, participates in Agile ceremonies, remains accountable for sprint deliverables, and supports disciplined SDLC execution

Drives continuous improvement, innovation, emerging technology adoption, regular upskilling, and knowledge sharing across the engineering organization

Participates in talent acquisition and performance management activities, including interviewing, candidate evaluation, goal setting, associate development, performance feedback, and review input

Provides technical direction across teams, influencing engineering standards, platform strategy, and architectural decisions without direct people-management authority

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Expert knowledge of cloud and DevOps engineering, including deep AWS expertise, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code practices

Proven ability to deploy Agentic AI models, autonomous AI agent integrations, LLM workflows, or multi-agent systems into production environments

Extensive experience with software engineering methodologies, Agile delivery practices, SDLC governance, and modern engineering best practices

Advanced full-stack development proficiency across user interface, middle tier, backend, APIs, integrations, and related technologies

Strong knowledge of modern software architecture, design patterns, scalability, resiliency, security, performance optimization, and non-functional requirements

Advanced knowledge of infrastructure technologies, including networking, compute platforms, storage, databases, middleware, systems management, and security practices

Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale technical initiatives, estimate complex work, manage milestones, and guide technical teams through successful delivery

Strong leadership, mentoring, coaching, communication, and strategic planning skills, including the ability to influence senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders

Exceptional problem-solving, analytical thinking, troubleshooting, debugging, and attention to detail in complex distributed systems environments

Ability to embrace emergent solutioning, iterative delivery, innovation, continuous improvement, and evolving technology trends, including AI-enabled engineering practices

Demonstrated responsiveness to internal and external customers, with the ability to balance technical excellence, business priorities, and stakeholder needs

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
We are a product company with legacy systems in use. Knowledge of mainframe and/or mid-tier applications programming (COBOL, ALC, DB2) and file utilities is preferred
Experience:

8 years of experience in software engineering

2 years of leadership experience, including leading teams and projects

Experience working with a complicated matrix of stakeholders

Proven track record of deploying Agentic AI models into production environments

Experience working with Public Clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure)

Required Training, Certification and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred Training, Certification and Education:
Master’s degree in a related technical field
Working Conditions:

No travel required

Remote/Home Office

Must be able to use equipment at workstation for up to 8 hours daily
