About the role

Start: Immediately | Level: Lead | Location: Germany, remote | Working hours: Fulltime (40h/week)

As Master Data Management Lead, you will bear overall strategic responsibility for master data management across the entire company. In this role, you will define the governance structure, set priorities for MDM initiatives, and ensure that data ownership, decision-making rights, and processes are clearly established. You will act as the central interface between business strategy and operational data.

The role can be performed remotely from anywhere within Germany, with occasional visits to our headquarters in Hamburg (approximately once per month during the first year, with less frequent visits possible thereafter)

Your mission

You are responsible for the global MDM strategy, the roadmap, and the data governance framework, as well as defining clear data responsibilities (Data Ownership)

You will build a central MDM Center of Competence (CoC) within the TQG Group, establish standards, and ensure the internal development of expertise

You will lead the MDM team functionally and disciplinary, and coordinate the Business and Technical Data Stewards

You will design the Master Data Operating Model (MDOM) as well as end-to-end, cross-domain master data processes (Product, Customer, Supplier, Finance, Logistics)

You will act as a bridge to the business units (SCM, Sales, Finance, etc.) and lead strategic governance committees

You will define and monitor MDM metrics (KPIs) using dashboards and drive continuous improvement processes

You will work closely with the MDM data architecture team to optimally translate strategic guidelines into technical solutions

You will actively promote a cultural shift toward active data ownership across the entire organization

Your experience & skills

You bring at least 7 years of profound professional experience in the field of MDM, data governance, or data-driven transformation projects

Ideally, you possess solid industry expertise in FMCG, food, dietary supplements, or retail

You have proven leadership competence in cross-departmental projects as well as experience in building MDM governance structures in medium-sized companies

You understand end-to-end master data processes (especially Product, Customer, Supplier, and Finance) down to the smallest detail

You have sound knowledge of SAP S/4HANA within the master data context and are familiar with systems such as ERP, PIM (e.g., Akeneo), CRM, WMS, or PLM (e.g., Centric)

You possess practical know-how regarding data models and system integrations

You are characterized by a structured, analytical, and strategic mindset, paired with a documentation quality suitable for top-management level

You convince with strong communication and moderation skills to drive organizational change, and you are fluent in both German and English
