About the role

Sell With a Portfolio Behind You.
Lead growth across Southern Illinois and Southeast Missouri for one of the region’s largest sports builders. We design, build, and self-perform large athletic complexes and parks facilities, so you can offer clients something few competitors can: one team accountable from start to finish, with an award-winning portfolio to prove it.
This is a remote, outside sales role with a high-performing territory and a substantial, uncapped commission plan — the base is only the starting point, and top performers earn well beyond it. It is a great fit for a seasoned business development professional who thrives on complex, multi-stakeholder deals and wants to be rewarded for results.
Nationally Recognized. Midwest Built.
Byrne & Jones Construction is one of the largest construction companies in the Midwest. For more than 50 years, our asphalt, concrete, microsurfacing, soil stabilization, engineering and design, parks, and sports divisions have built the roads, parking lots, parks, and athletic facilities communities utilize every day — and we self-perform the work other builders subcontract. Our Sports & Parks division has built a portfolio of nationally recognized, award-winning athletic facilities. Proven volume, in-house expertise, and control of the work on the ground let us move fast and make the decisions that protect quality and margin early.
What You Will Own

Territory growth. Grow an established territory, prospect consistently, and expand the pipeline.

Early positioning. Engage on bond issues, capital plans, and park master plans before the RFP is written.

Full sales cycle. Qualify, pursue, propose, negotiate, and close, making go/no-go decisions early.

Present to athletic directors, parks directors, superintendents, architects, and boards.

Design-build value. Show clients the advantage of one team accountable from concept to completion.

Pursuits and proposals. Lead pursuit teams with Estimating, Design, and Operations through RFQs, RFPs, and public bids.

Sales goals. Meet and exceed annual targets, with an accurate CRM pipeline and forecast.

Client relationships. Stay connected through delivery and turn completed projects into referrals and repeat work.

What You Bring

5+ years closing complex B2B deals.

Track record. Consistent quota attainment and a history of closing multi-million-dollar deals.

Credibility with end users, executives, elected boards, and design professionals.

Self-motivated and comfortable generating your own opportunities.

Industry knowledge. Ideally, design-build, sports surfacing, turf, or parks sales; a coaching, athletic director, or parks background; relationships in the region.

Strong time management and CRM habits while working remotely.

50–60% in territory, including overnights. Valid driver’s license.

What We Offer

Base salary. $55,000 to $ 80,000+, based on experience.

Substantial commission plan. Uncapped, performance-based commission built to reward experienced closers. Your earnings grow with every project you win.

Vehicle and equipment. Monthly vehicle allowance, fuel and maintenance card, and a company phone.

Sales support. Marketing and estimating support so you can focus on client relationships.

Medical, dental, and vision; 401(k) with match; paid time off and holidays.

Privately owned and growing across the Midwest for more than 50 years.

Core values, lived. Be an expert. Do the right thing. Preserve reputation. Do whatever it takes. Have mutual trust and respect.
