Your Role: As a Billing Specialist, you will:
Identify and resolve patient and insurance billing issues.
Verify benefits for various service lines.
Follow-up on denied, appealed, and reconsideration of claims.
Manage patient AR by collecting outstanding accounts, processing payments, and discussing insurance and billing questions.
Update insurance payor information and profiles.
Support clinical staff, physicians, and front office staff with questions regarding insurance policies, authorizations, and payments.
Analyze insurance processes, productivity, aging, and revenue cycle reporting.
Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
Answer incoming patient and insurance calls.
Apply working knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance Payors, Workers' Compensation, and Managed Healthcare.
What You Need: Non-negotiables
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Proven success working with medical providers, support staff, and patients in a collaborative environment.
Competency with current ICD/CPT codes and mental health or primary care coding.
Strong ability to review and interpret patient bills and Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
Ability to identify incorrect data and perform appropriate corrections independently.
Preferred skills/expertise
Accredited or certified biller/coder with mental health billing experience.
Previous experience with medical billing software systems.
Experience working in a fast-paced medical office environment.
Knowledge of patient registration, charge entry, and medical policies.
Advanced problem-solving, error detection, and interpersonal communication skills.
