About the role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Account Director, Client Solutions based in Germany.

As an Account Director, Client Solutions, you will own a portfolio of strategic client relationships from discovery through delivery, renewal, and expansion. You’ll serve as the senior commercial and strategic point of contact for executive stakeholders, helping clients turn customer data into measurable revenue growth. The role combines consulting, account leadership, commercial ownership, and project direction without requiring you to be the hands-on technical builder. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are scoped, delivered, and aligned with business objectives. With clients across Europe and North America, you’ll operate in a diverse environment spanning multiple industries, technologies, and regulatory contexts. This is a high-ownership opportunity for an experienced client leader who can connect strategy, technology, and commercial outcomes.

Accountabilities

Own the executive-level relationship across a portfolio of clients, acting as the primary strategic contact for senior marketing and growth stakeholders.

Establish and maintain a strong client cadence through biweekly meetings, monthly roadmap and statement-of-work reviews, and quarterly business reviews covering results, priorities, risks, and future opportunities.

Keep clients proactively informed about progress, budgets, timelines, risks, and decisions, ensuring there are no unexpected developments.

Identify revenue opportunities across acquisition, conversion, and retention, connecting each challenge to the relevant customer pain, metric, business impact, and potential solution.

Build and defend growth roadmaps collaboratively with clients, using measurement frameworks, KPI definitions, funnel and cohort analysis, lifecycle strategies, experimentation roadmaps, and performance readouts.

Translate technical decisions and recommendations into clear business implications that executive stakeholders can understand and act upon.

Scope projects and translate client requirements into sufficiently detailed briefs for architects and engineers, while remaining accountable for the quality and business relevance of the final outcome.

Lead project execution through sprint cadence, board management, dependencies, risks, timelines, and critical-path oversight rather than performing the technical implementation yourself.

Review completed work against agreed client objectives before delivery and ensure commitments are fulfilled to the expected standard.

Run pre-sales discovery, qualify opportunities, develop proposals, and present scope, phasing, investment, and business cases directly to prospective clients.

Partner with Sales throughout qualification, discovery, and closing before taking ownership of the account during delivery.

Price and scope technical work with profitability and delivery feasibility in mind.

Own retention and expansion across your portfolio, ensuring scope changes are estimated, documented, and approved before work begins.

Maintain a six-month forward roadmap so future engagements can be planned and contracted before existing scopes come to an end.

Requirements

10+ years of experience in consulting, agency, or professional services, including at least 5 years owning senior client relationships with direct revenue responsibility.

Fully fluent English, combined with professional working proficiency in at least one additional European language such as German, French, Spanish, or Italian.

Strong understanding of the full marketing lifecycle, including demand generation, nurturing, acquisition, retention, and growth, with the ability to identify where revenue is being lost between stages.

Solid understanding of how marketing technology supports modern marketing operations, including advertising, customer data platforms, marketing engagement, CRM, analytics, and related infrastructure.

Advisory-level knowledge of modern marketing and customer data technologies, with the ability to assess technology choices, understand trade-offs, evaluate how systems work together, and challenge poor technical recommendations without being responsible for configuration or coding.

Advanced understanding of marketing and growth analytics, attribution, and data-driven approaches for improving marketing performance and returns.

Demonstrated success retaining and expanding client accounts, ideally supported by measurable commercial results.

Proven pre-sales experience covering discovery, qualification, scoping, proposal development, and presenting solutions to executive buyers.

Experience scoping and pricing technical work in a way that balances client value, delivery feasibility, and profitability.

Understanding of how European businesses purchase, contract, and operate across markets, including procurement, data protection, and consent requirements.

Advisory command of customer data platforms such as Segment, Hightouch, or RudderStack; analytics platforms such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, or GA4; lifecycle tools such as Braze, Customer.io, HubSpot, Marketo, or Iterable; warehouse and transformation technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or dbt; tag management; CRM; and consent management platforms.

Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to take responsibility for outcomes, surface blockers early, and drive issues through to resolution.

Excellent strategic and commercial judgment, with the ability to balance client value, delivery quality, account health, and profitability.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills, particularly with senior and executive stakeholders.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in an environment where consulting, delivery, and business development can compete for attention.

Experience working with clients across multiple countries or regulatory environments is a plus.

Experience working across both European and North American client portfolios is a plus.

Experience building or helping establish a regional practice is a plus.
